April marks Community Banking Month, which is a nationwide celebration recognizing the many contributions community banks make to their customers and communities. This month, Lincoln Savings Bank is making an impact in our communities through a variety of efforts in addition to our typical community service.
To honor and celebrate Earth Day (April 22), we are distributing growable pine trees to children through our branch drive-thrus to cultivate growth in our communities. It is our hope to help replenish the extensive tree loss in Iowa from the 2020 Derecho.
Our Tama and Aplington branches are also planting shade trees that will flourish and grow throughout the coming years and into the future for our next generation. We are working with city employees on finding ideal locations for planting.
In addition to cultivating literal growth in nature, LSB is also providing opportunities for growth through social progress. Autism Awareness Month also takes place in April and LSB has partnered with Every Piece Matters, created by Allyson Schwab and her family, to assist in providing communications boards to schools and playgrounds throughout Iowa. These boards not only help kids communicate, but they open the doors for conversations about those with diverse abilities.
Another initiative our rural branches have adopted is organizing and distributing “Tax Season Survival Baskets” to local law and accounting offices. These survival baskets include the necessary snacks (chocolate, microwave popcorn, granola bars, etc.) to survive the long hours of tax season.
